Background
I came to landscape design after 11 years as a woodworker and fine furniture-maker,
including four years as a builder of French reproduction harpsichords.
In that earlier career, as in this one, I took great pleasure in solving
complex three-dimensional problems. Then as now, I enjoyed using excellent
tools and delightfully beautiful materials. And most importantly, I have
always loved envisioning the design of completely new objects, then transforming
those ideas and concepts into a tangible reality to simply, efficiently,
and elegantly serve an active function and satisfy a real purpose.
